Town of Amherst water system exceeds a drinking water standard

AMHERST Co., Va. (WSET) -- The Town of Amherst issued a note on Friday about levels of disinfection byproducts in its water.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) lists haloacetic acids (HAA5) as a potential carcinogen if consumed in excess amounts.  Our Black Berkey® Purification Elements have been tested to remove total haloacetic acids by levels up to 98% or greater for their entire 6,000 gallon lifespan.
